Garbage not trash. And we use that u. Thank God for the British Empire! speaking of which, one of the pleasures of India was reading their newspapers. The authorities would sometimes describe criminals as 'scallywags' and always use the present continuous tense, as in 'they are absconding'......This huge country using a language different to but familiar from boarding school.
