Did you know that among my close circle of friends in high school, maybe a dozen or so, two have died? And a third nearly died and is alive only after a transplant. All of totally unavoidable natural causes. It seems a disproportionate number, and it makes me feel angry as well as sad when I think of it.
Death isn't all that compelling when you've seen enough of it. It's just death. The cessation of life. The end. A stopping of all the many chemical reactions and nerve impulses.
I hope your end is many years and many experiences off, Deneb. Your chance to make a difference is now. Your chance to see how much others care about you is now. Your chance to build relationships that make others care about you is now.
How are you coming in compiling some of those experiences? When your therapy appointment comes, will you have applied for jobs? How about the charities you promised you would help?
