If you could post answers to the following, then I coulodkhave the opportunity to respond accordingly.~ ~ Hi Lou - I'm 62 myself, & that 'counts' as a seniour a lot of places where I live, so although I'm not delited about it, I am starting to think of myself as a senior.~ ~
> A. Could the joke have been told with the subject person being someone other than the senior?
~ ~ ~ I'm not sure Lou.
> B. If not, why not?
~ ~ I think for me, it is partly the preconceived idea I have of what it means to be a senior! I'm in the process of working it out these days anyway. I find that I'm taking certain clothes from my cupboard, for example & as I go to put them on, I'll think, " Man, I wonder if I should be wearing this at this age!"
As far as this joke goes, in my mind it sort of DID have to do with the fact that it was a senior. But perhaps that has to do with my idea of what being a senior MEANS & as I said, I'm in the process of figuring it out!!
:-)> C. If the joke could be told with the subject person being somone other than a senior, could you post here (redacted by respondent)
> Lou~ ~ I don't know what "redacted by respondent" means - sorry.
Hmmmm - I'm going to re-read the joke & just have the person be a man (no age mentioned & no reference to age) & see if I still find it funny! Good idea. I'll do it tomorrow (too tired now).
Lou - if having the person in the joke be a senior was insulting or disturbing to you, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to insult or disturb anyone. Maybe I'll start a new thread as to what being a senior means???? Like, do I need to give away certain clothes, etc!!!
take care Lou, xoxo Kath
