A friend of mine had an party celebrating his first wedding anniversary yesterday. There were about 60 people there, most of whom I had never met. In the past, I had not been very good in social situations like this. I had experienced persistent anxiety, and sometimes was even paralyzed by it. This time was different, though. I have seen my bipolar depression remit to a great degree, which has been the biological source of my social anxiety. There are psychological sources as well. These, however, I have been working on for quite some time. Everything all came together for me yesterday, and I was able to enjoy myself at a social gathering for the first time that I can remember.
