Dear Rose,
Congratulations on finishing!
I ran long distances for over twenty years. It was the only medication then available that alleviated my depression. I have completed over twenty marathons.
The daily long-distance running truly ameliorated my mood for the day. But the marathons were good for about four days. I experienced a feeling of contented peacefulness that nothing else has been able to duplicate.
Which marathon was it? I can give you tips on some of the more famous ones.
Most people decide right after finishing a their first marathon that they will never run another. However, many of them realize weeks later that the subtle but profound sensation of satisfaction that they enjoyed after finishing has dissipated, and change their minds.
