I'm not sure exactly where she lives now, but many of the rivers and streams in southern/western Indiana are at or near record levels. Lots of people in Terre Haute have been flooded out of their homes, and a section of Interstate 70 (a 4-lane divided highway) washed out on the weekend.
I had a minor adventure myself Friday... my car radio/CD player was stolen last week, and when I left for my 30-mile drive home I hadn't checked the weather. It looked fine... when I was halfway home I noticed rather menacing clouds to the west, and estimated their distance and figured if the storm moves at a brisk 40 MPH I should still get home first. 5 minutes later I figured out they were moving at something closer to double that. By the time I reached the southern edge of town the front had arrived, and I had trouble keeping my car on the road, so I parked and dashed into the nearest building (an office supply store). When I came in the wind blew down a few displays... There was no serious damage; several trees blew down including an apple tree in our backyard, and I heard that a door shattered at a fast food place.
