I'm sorry you're sad, Deneb. I hope you feel better. (I wrote on your wall, BTW.) I do think that the internet can be kind of isolating rather than making us feel part of something. Sometimes I will feel that my inbox is sitting empty, and I feel badly because I too am looking for connection there.
It's more than "you get out what you put in", meaning if we send out messages, we'll get more messages back. Sometimes the people we're sending messages to aren't feeling too great themselves, and so they can't come up with the words to write us. Weekends can be very lonely, as many people only have access to computers where they work, so there may be times when we'll have sent out a message on Friday night, and you get you Sunday night and there still isn't a reply... you get the idea. And then there are people like me, who might spend time on the computer early in the day, but not in the evenings or at night (when most other people are active). So it looks like I am not responding, but really I am just watching TV! Or, like yesterday, I was at a baseball game. Go Tampa Bay Rays! Even though I wanted to get on the computer, I didn't want to annoy my family who were spending "quality" time with me, LOL.
One thing my therapist has helped me with has been to see that, often, this stuff has more to do with the other person than it does with me. It's not a reflection on me, but on what's going on with the other person. So that's something to think about.
Good luck at work today. I'll be thinking of you.
