Seasick Steve was at the music festival up here at Easter.
Amazing to hear all these muso from the states and compare them to the politicians.
That goes for us too, I guess, but the difference is not so striking, for some reason or other.
I really liked "Jerusalem", written by Steve Earl after he had served a couple of years for bringing heroin in from Mexico. It's a good album, one of those that feels like it's written in blood, the product of deep feeling and reflection. He comes (not now) from Texas. I saw him a few years ago, and as I walked into the tent he was singing 'and the best we can do is cheat on our taxes' and the hair stood up all over me. He was so good.
