My area is absolutely not typical. But the main mall in the area is so packed that I refuse to go there. The big box retailers are packed as well. I'm a big online purchaser because of that.
On the other hand, the two more upscale malls never did come back after Katrina, and I worry that they won't. Nothing sadder than an empty mall, however little I care for them personally.
