Kangaroos, Emus and Goannas » karen_kay

Once when I was out riding (a horse, this sounds improbable, but there it is) I came across two goannas in combat.
They are big lizards, about 5ft long.
The came down from trees and in the middle of a clearing between them, they stood up on their tails and back legs and wrestled.
At least I think that is what they were doing.
After a bout they retired to their trees and waited a bit until the next time.
It might be something that happens in the spring.
It was quite something, and I felt privileged to see it.

Kangaroos are kinda peaceful animals, but they have extremely powerful hind legs and you might worry that they could disembowel you.
They, like many animals, might be touchy in the mating season.
