yeah, i've noticed that kids are really good at falling (they're like cats). Their reaction times are so fast that they can adapt to a rapidly changing situation a lot faster than adults can. Also they don't hit the ground as hard as adults do.
Me, when I go down, it's all about the thud.
One of the funniest falls I had was with boss mare who was just having none of me on that day. She did this half-hearted buck which sent me way forward. I grabbed onto her neck and was about to recover when she threw her neck very sharply to the right and I just slid right off. I Landed right on my butt sitting straight up. Meanwhile, she took off and I spent the next hour trying to catch her in the pasture without driving her into this 4 lane highway.
Ah horses...
I hope you can identify what is causing your dissociation on horse back, but until then I would DEFINATELY NOT GET ON ONE. You need to be "there" when you are on one.
