When I was 12 we did The Lady of Shalott, and I loved this........
'Out flew the web and floated wide;
The mirror crack'd from side to side;
"The curse is come upon me," cried
The Lady of Shalott.'which reminds me now of....
'Vacant shuttles weave the wind'
(Eliot, Gerontion)I can't read this without cracking up
'Also pray for those who were in ships, and
Ended their voyage on the sand, in the sea's lips
Or in the dark throat which will not reject them
Or wherever cannot reach them the sound of the sea bell's
Perpetual angelus.'
(Eliot, Dry Salvages)and from King Lear
'When thou dost ask me blessing, I'll kneel down and ask of thee forgiveness'.
