I don't disagree with this personally. It is, however, very much at odds with everything I've learned about the rationale and practice of the civility guidelines on this site. For instance, it's almost impossible to post anything meaningful on the Politics board because, for instance, to write a criticism of the acts of a particular political figure may make a supporter of that person feel bad. What you wrote, gg, is what I'd expect a reasonable person of the "doesn't repeatedly touch a hot stove" variety to assume. But that same reasonable person would expect that posts on the Politics board might reflect conflicting viewpoints and therefore might be better avoided in light of known personal sensitivities. Yet the official board policy says exactly the opposite - that whatever is posted ought not to disturb the easily disturbed, that the responsibility to avoid upset lies entirely with the poster and not the reader.
So I guess I'm saying if I were kk (and we're all very lucky I'm not!) I wouldn't necessarily bank on that kind of reassurance about what's OK on Babble!
