Hi Phillipa,
I struggle with this issue, too. I'm taking classes hoping to make a career change. I turn 50 this year and I know my chances are slim, especially since I can't list the job I was fired from on my resume and it was in the field I'm trying to get into. Talk about that rock and hard place. My therapist says she wishes I could just accept that all I really need is a job that pays the bills, but I just can't do that.
I wish you could work as a nurse again. I wish you could find something related to it that you could do, but I know how hard that will be.
