Verne- Once upon a time I went to a pdoc with a specialty in addictions psychiatry. To help me quit w/o going inpatient, he gave me about 4 days worth of something Xanax-ish. I forget what it was. I basically slept for 4 days...so I started off with 4 days sober. It helped get the ball rolling.
Have you ever tried Topamax or Naltrexone? I dunno. Might help. Take care.
