This is the new, revamped, cult favorite BG. It's really grisly, though-- very contemporary-political-despair-ish. Bleak, down-beat.
About the Cylons, computer/machines who were created by Man, but who rebelled against their oppressors (man), and then, defeated in battle, retreated into the depths of the Universe.
Now they have returned to confront their former creators.
Goes downhill from there. In the premiere of the third season, ,many of the lead characters, who had been held in a Cylon prison camp, on the Planet, Caprica--which is ruled by a Vichy-like government, lead by the former chief scientist who initially betrayed the humans--are taken out in a truck convoy, to be summarily executed on a lonely road, as an example to the Resistance, and any other humans who do not accept the Cylon God.
Ends with the sound of the machine guns, that are attached to the appendages of the more brutal=looking "toasters" (as humans call them), resonating in the distance.
It is harrowing. But good. Extremely well done, although I haven't quite been able to watch it all.
