In reply to I had a dream about Bob, posted by Deneb on October 9, 2006, at 18:01:05
In the dream, Deneb, you didn't seem to be worried about dying yourself. In the dream, you could swim, even though you don't know how to (yet) in real life. I think perhaps the swimming represents being here on Babble-- where you are swimming and making connections that you haven't fully been able to make IRL.
Yet those connections-- to Bob, and to other on Pbabble-- are fragile-- can be overwhelmed by the flood of emotions that you still have at times-- even here. And you want (need) to learn how to swim in the same way in life, not just on Pbabble.
Bob represents someone who does connect, whose gifts and whose ability to remember the existence of those who are (possibly) lost--or not immediately present-- is something you cherish, and want to protect, and even to have for yourself. Your wish to keep it safe and to have it for yourself--in your taking and protection of the roses-- doesn't seem like a selfish thing-- although perhaps at moments it can feel, or even be, that-- it seems loving and very life-affirming.
The difficulty of keeping the roses safe, and the sense that you were alone-- those seem to be the almost overwhelming challenge that you face. But the dream suggests that you have confidence-- perhaps more than you realize most of the time-- that you can do that.
You're working at it, even in the difficulty-- and not giving up, even if the sense of separation and uncertainty about the future are so potentially frightening and even destructive.
It's a really beautiful dream. I'm glad you had it.
