I am totally mystified. There has been a nagging in my head, since I read this post.
You can change weight by five pounds in a day, just from water balance. Professional football players can lose twenty pounds in 3 hours.
I also wonder how you came to the number 17. Would 16 not do? Not do what?

On track? Again, with the water balance thing, and other similar variables, daily monitoring is perhaps excessive?
