But I love to dance, anyway!
OK, how to learn, how to learn... I was probably older by the time I got confident about it, and I still have trouble at my worst, but here are a few suggestions:
MTV/VH1/Whatever. In my day, it was American Bandstand! lol My friends and I would watch was the dancers on there did, and we'd try to do the same things. It helped. What really helped me, though, was to dance alone in my living room, with my eyes closed. Honestly -- it helped me. Once I got confident with my eyes closed, I started opening my eyes, and then moved on to dancing in public.
Nowadays, this shy, self-conscious chick who would go to the high school dances and stand in the corner, is generally the one saying, "C'MON, people! There's a dancefloor going to waste! Who's gonna dance with me, so that I don't look like a complete @$$?"
That's the other thing, though -- confidence. Here's a secret: if you're club dnacing right, you'll sweat, so if you're sweating, you're doing it right. And you should also enjoy it. If you're sweating, and you're enjoying your dancing, then you're doing it right. Just let your body go with the music -- remember my subject line, I ain't go not rhythm, nor grace -- and enjoy.
Good luck.
