I think the guiding principle here should be sensitivity to the feelings of the person posting under the new name. It's natural to wonder who they are, but they changed their name for a reason, and it may have been to get a fresh start.
If you're curious, one thing you can do is check their initial post on Admin, they may have said there who they used to be.
Another option, as 5 said, is to ask them. But ask them how they feel about being connected to their old name, not whether they used to be x or y, since if they're uncomfortable being connected to their old name, they're probably going to be uncomfortable having others guess.
