Getting scareder and scareder

Posted by Dinah on February 25, 2006, at 11:57:25

About having to move. I don't see much improvement on the local job market that would enable us to stay if my husband's job moves.

On the other hand, I'm a bit afraid of staying too. They announced locally that they're likely to call for evacuations even for tropical storms this year, because lots of people are in trailers and they're not sure of the readiness of the levee system to withstand even a tropical storm.

I've been here all my life except for a couple of years in Utah that I'm almost too young to remember. I'm probably no more than ten miles from where my parents brought me home from the hospital. My family roots are here. My great grandfather and my father are in the same tomb.

I don't want to leave my home and my job and my son's school and my therapist and everything I've always known for my entire life.

But I'm a wee bit worried that they don't think the floodwalls can stand up to a tropical storm, too.

My husband doesn't care. He's lost his entire family in the last year and has no ties to here.

My son is terrified of moving.
