Was it 60,000 killed in the blitz, 54 nights of consecutive bombing? Everyone went about their normal business (with a heavy heart). Churchill privately thought Britain was finished, but at least there would be no surrender.
Compare that with today, in London at the moment. What a difference good leadership makes.
Don't be too quick to take offense. Just wait for the (inflamed) terrorist attack here in Australia, and see the lockdown.
