Your best bet is to talk to a disability lawyer. It won't cost you anything since they work on contingency. It takes a loooong time and I'm glad I had the foresight to start the process early when I had an inkling I wouldn't be able to continue working. You could also call the SS office and ask them how easy it would be for an employer to find out, the steps they'd have to take, etc. They have no reason to not give you truthful info. I think you'll be reassured by the mere fact of how difficult it is to even find the right department to talk to.
Thanks for your kind words. I'm doing well on my combo. Lithium seems to be the magic ticket for me. It's not enough on it's own because I still need an AD, but without it I'm in bad shape. Good luck to you too. Barbara
