The two of us were shoe-pals. She was nearly a foot shorter than I, but we could share shoes. In fact, much to my husband's displeasure, I have two very large bags of her shoes in our living room right now, waiting for me to decide where to keep. Some fit fine, and will be worn until they fall off my feet. Others, though, including the two pairs that are out of the bag, and gracing our living room, I brought back only because they remind me so much of her, of the times we spent sitting in her bedroom looking at her shoes, and her clothes.
(Once I was taking care of her cats while she was out of town. Stopped by before work, grabbed a cat who needed medicine -- and he let his bladder go, all down my brand new silk dress! I called my boss to say that a cat had pee'd on me, and I'd be a few minutes late. Then I raided her closet. What a day. I did mention that she was nearly a foot shorter than I, right? Thank goodness miniskirts were in fashion that year...)
