Dentists and bad teeth are huge for me. I knew that I was feeling so much better when I went ahead and made a dentist's appt. My T was thrilled. The teeth, dentist thing are related to my csa and to have someone working on my mouth is very triggering. So much so that I avoided the dentist for 10 years. By the time I went (I've always had bad teeth) I had to have a root canal, at least six crowns and a partial bridge. I went every three weeks until it was all done. My husband screamed about the cost, but it was something I had to do.
To make it as comfortable as possible, I told my dentist that I experienced csa as a child (and bulimic) and this was really difficult for me to do. He was wonderful (my husband was horrified I'd told the dentist, but that's his problem). For all the time we did the work, he was very kind, and always asked me if I needed a break (for triggering events). He was great; a little odd, but great. I took .25 mg Xanax on those days I was a wreck and it helped enormously.
good luck,
antigua
