Gabbi,
That was so very gracious and selfless of you to post...but...entirely unnecessary,IMO.
First, I hope you don't feel you must wait for someone to specifically ask for your opinion, especially on this board. I value your opinion all the time, on every board, solicited or not. And really, the way I started this, I was inviting opinions anyway, wasn't I?
Reminds me of something...another poster recently wondered on Admin if those here who sincerely try to follow DB's civility guidelines (the best we are able to understand them) were a bunch of "drones" (lol - I maybe guilty as charged, there, I suppose...)Anyway....point is, if I thought posters might just agree this art was good, amazing, or anything positive, and just write that...well, maybe I'd be LOOKING for a bunch of drones! No, thank you. I prefer diverse, opinionated, smart, free-thinkers like Babblers!
So Ms. gabbi, I gently reject your apology because I can't find anything for you to be sorry for!
I haven't had time to respond to everyone separately 'cause I've just been busy and/or lazy and/or tired...(that's too many *and/ors* !)but...
I found all comments to be thought-provoking, and leading me to examine why I had such a gushing reaction in the first place. Still working that one out.
Her art really does look like velvet paintings and "van art."
I guess I like *some* velvet paintings and *some* van art. Wouldn't fill my house with them, but might hang just one I really felt drawn to....
I do worry about child prodigies and such. Hopefully, her parents and others are being mindful of the pitfalls every day. The irony - particularly in light of her religious beliefs - if she were to suffer and lose the precious childhood I think God delights in us enjoying - would be huge. (that was one horrid sentence - sorry)
I'll have to look through the website more - I just clicked really quickly and, not being able to draw a straight line or even a circle that's not egg-shaped, was startled and impressed by the stuff done when she was so young - 7, etc.
I don't care for the poetry at all, actually. Just doesn't do anything for me. Like you (?) said, art is so personal, and so is poetry, I think.
Anyway, gotta run, but I wanted to suggest you give yourself a break - no regrets for anything written that I can see - 'kay? :-)
