My aunt and her husband (my uncle) has 3 kids; one 12, one 11 and one 10. They are home alone after school until at least 10:30pm now during the weekdays. On the weekends they will probably spend their time helping out at the restaurant.
It is not good for kids to be home alone for so long. I know, I've been there.
