I suspect it's because a lot of people are unhappy about their sex lives for one reason or another. I always find it easier to talk about sex when sex is going fairly well for me. But when I was very depressed sex was a total nightmare and I didn't want to talk about it. I even found it difficult to hear other people talking about it.
I notice, though, that it seems perfectly acceptable in general society to discuss the sex lives of politicians and celebrities as if they weren't entitled to any privacy. To me, that's quite odd.
But when things are going well between my husband and me, I want to tell everyone!
