.pdf (portable document format) files are Adobe files, whereas .ppt are Microsoft files, specific to Powerpoint. I've taken text from .pdf files using the snapshot (text as image) or text-select (text as ASCII), and pasted it into various Microsoft products (including Powerpoint), or saved the images as .jpg (text images also) and manipulated those in e.g. Paint to shrink them or crop them. But you can't open a .pdf in any Microsoft product that I know of.
