Could be that your cache is clogged with debris files. Microsoft (if that's what you're using) writes horrid software. Temporary internet files that aren't temporary, and they clog up the swap file.

Pull down the Tools menu at the top of the page. Select Internet Options. On the General tab, click the button on the second panel from the top, Delete Files. It will open a small window, tick the box "delete all offline content", and be prepared to wait a while, if you've never done this maintenance before. I had 10 GB in garbage disappear the first time I did that. It took two hours. My computer was never happier, after that.
