We blew all our internal components on our PC christmas day before last!!
What happened was there was a spike in our power supply that caused it.. What you need to do to prevent that is buy a UPS (uninteruptable power supply).. that "smooths" the power and prevents this kind of thing happening.. they're not expensive, and I think ALL computers should be connected to one!!
Now all that our pc's are connected via one, we never turn our computers off.. but if you're on broadband, just via a broadband modem, I wouldn't suggest that.. if you want to do that, you need to get a broadband router with a built in fire wall (around $50 probably).. that prevents hackers being able to get inw hile yo'renot around!
