In reply to Depression featured on today's Oprah show, posted by Wildflower on November 17, 2004, at 11:51:31
Linda Hamilton, Maurice Bernard (Sonny from General Hospital) & Shawn Colvin were on Oprah today. They have bipolar & depression and were talking about medication and their struggles with depression. They talked about going on and off of medication and why people are tempted to do so when they start to feel better. Linda said that it took her ten years to get to the place in her life where she was stable and living the life she was meant to live and get her life in balance. It was interesting to see them talk about their issues with mental illness and how close they'd all come to suicide, but when she said that it's taken her 10 years to get to a place where she feels like she's gotten her life together, I was just crushed. I feel like I am so far from having my life together. I feel like that is such a distant destination and I, frankly, don't have ten years to spend figuring out or working it out. I feel sick and tired and hate myself so much for being in this place. All I can think is that I should feel better and be better and be done with this.
