My favorite psych related movie

What's Eating Gilbert Grape
While his situation is clearly more extreme than mine, it also reminds me so much of my role in my family of origin. I can't watch the movie without crying.
And ironically, at the same time I identify with the morbidly obese woman who is an emotional burden, as well as an emotional resource, to her family. It reminds me of me now. I'm not morbidly obese, but I do feel like I'm a burden sometimes and it is my over-arching purpose in life to make sure my son doesn't feel like he needs to be a caretaker.
Overall, it's a movie that reaches me on a very deep level. Which is why I own it, but try not to watch it.
