Oh my. I never thought of that. I was just thinking of all the simple outages we get here, and my husband thinks I'm crazy. But then, that is nothing new. :)

My sis sounded pretty good on the phone last night. But I think she didn't realize how emotionally draining it was for her until she went out and saw the damage today. She said it looked like about a 100 tornadoes had hit. Last night the glass sliding doors in her apt. were bowing inward quite alarmingly. And the wind was so loud, they never heard the tree right outside their lanai crash down. She said it went on for a long long time. I can't imagine. But they were lucky as they had no damage to their building or cars and obviously are unhurt. Trees down, but not on their stuff.

She and her bf decided to get out of Dodge once the main road opened back up. They are in a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, ironically with an ocean view. I think I'd rather not see the ocean right now if I were her, but then again, how often can you get that view?

They both filled their cars with gas the day before which was fortunate. Today, she said there was only one gas station open for miles, and the cars were about 30 deep at each pump. They only found one store open, too, and that was slim pickin's.

I heard that the beach was off limits to residents etc. while the clean up was going on. I fear for my favorite restaurant, The Mucky Duck on Captiva. I think it might have had quite a hit as it sits right on the point of the island.

Still no word on my in-laws condo. They are not there, and the woman who takes care of it while they are in another state has been unreachable. I think my sis will try to drive by and check it out when she comes back.

I hope anyone else with loved ones in the area get good news. That was sure something.

Take care,
gg
