summer pj possibilities

Know anyone who sews? I'm thinking drawstring pants and a top in cotton shirting or linen, in colors that you love. I have a set (classic menswear-style pjs) I made out of a persian-blue fine italian cotton shirting, and they were terrific in summer. The top looks too PJish to wear out, but when I visited my sister, I wore them (with a sweatshirt over) on a 5-a.m. coffee run to Dunkin'Donuts. A different top (say, pullover) could make it more presentable. I also have a set of pink fine cotton knit PJs, and can wear the top as a t-shirt. (Uh, that's what I have on now.) But they're really not opaque enough to wear around a teenager.
As a last resort, what about scrubs? What colors work for you?
