> I would absolutely love to change careers (I'm an accountant). I want to do something - anything - where I would have fulfilling interaction with people. $$$ are the problem, though. Any suggestions?
I've considered several things, but, after (no joke) being told by several therapists (including the one who led my group when I was in the psych ward this summer!) that I should consider becoming a therapist, I think that's what I'm going to do. It was something I'd considered before, but then played around with other ideas. What I know - I want to work with children, and I can't make a living as a nanny or a daycare worker or stay-at-home mom (unless I find a rich hubby, which isn't looking promising). I thought about nursing, but one of my issues with my career is having a boss - b/c I've never had great bosses - so I'd like to be my own boss one day. If I get my MSW and become a child therapist, I can have my own practice one day, and that, to me, would be ideal!!!
Anyway - IMO life is too short to spend most of your waking hours doing something that you don't find fulfilling. I know, though, that we all have bills to pay, mouths to feed, etc., so we sometimes have to keep working at jobs we hate. But I tell myself it's not forever!!!
Perhaps you should examine your interests - see if there is a way you could make money doing something fulfilling???
