put the needs of the whole society that they govern above their own needs, which means I support the idea of a socialist government. (A system where infrastructure needed by all is owned by the government, the people, and businesses are required to do profit-sharing on some basis with their staff, thus benefitting all involved.) I may be biased because of the beliefs I've had been raised in but now as an adult I can't see any evil with this thinking.
And I also support people's right's to have different views. I don't expect everyone to conform, yet there has to be a consensus and in most regards I would bow down if the majority differed from my own views. If I felt the whole were taking an immoral stand I would through diplomatic means state my views. How far would I be willing to go? This I should weigh with caution concerning cost versus benefit, without letting emotion rule me. (Easier said than done.)
So what is my point? Little boys have spitting contests, some very young girls have been known to even join in. As the male children age, they begin to challenge who's stream is longer which starts the comparison of genitals. By the time women have reached my age, they generally aren't in competition anymore, but working in unison. Men well ...
So boys will be boys. Let them in a safe arena where they can't harm themselves or others. Sometimes they may need guidance in directing them towards socially acceptable competition. And in the meanwhile, universal stuff upto the women. Just imagine the peace!!
