sib, and therapy

So as I mentioned in chat, I did bring up SIB with my therapist. She was unruffled and supportive (perhaps she had already noticed signs). I told her I didn't want to discuss details of the behavior just yet (too much shame) but was interested in looking at causes, such as the "invalidating environment" idea on the llama site. She seemed to be okay with that, and said she would be "interested" if I wanted to discuss details with her more.

So I guess it went well, though I'm still sort of freaked out about it. I guess in the strange world of psychotherapy it's a good thing to talk about the things that freak you out, as opposed to the ones that just make you upset.

In other interesting news, she advanced the idea that I might be cyclothymic instead of just plain unipolar depressed. I'm supposed to mention the idea to my new pdoc. I wonder what I should do if I get a new dx. Will I need a new wardrobe? Do I have to notify the DMV?
