Gracie, there's a difference between doing something embarrassing & making an ass of yourself in public. Whoever that is that you described, I'd say they fit into the second category.
I've done some pretty embarassing things (if I had any sense of shame which I don't). One time looking after an old friend who was wheelchair bound, I wheeled her into a public men's toilet. The men's & women's were side by side & I mixed the signs - don't ask me how. Thank goodness, there was only one man in the washroom (it was pretty large with multiple stalls & urinals) & all he was doing was washing his hands.
She said it was the highlight of her day & thanked me in a small local newspaper for the "diversions & entertainment". It would've been far more entertaining if any guys had been at the urinals!
Years ago, I read in a newspaper about a man in Germany who walked out his front door to get the newspaper. When he got out, he realised the door had locked behind him. He thought he'd crawl back into the house through the pet door flap but found himself jammed in. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't move backward or forward. He ended up calling & calling for help but with his head inside the house, he wasn't heard well.
A group of (very rude) young guys were going past & went over, pulled his pants down & stuck a flower up, then left. He hollered all the louder & others passing by thought it was performance art (hey! this is Germany) & starting tossing coins on to the front steps. This went on most of the day until a old neighbour, looking out the window to see what the crowd was about, phoned the police in disgust. He was finally freed.
What got me was his name & full address was published along with the story. If it was me, I'd change my name & move far away.
