The same protection (American Disabilities Act) that your neighbors with wheelchairs enjoy is the same act that will protect your right to have your cat as a companion animal. It sounds as if your pdoc is aware of this. My therapist is having my dog qualified (any animal can be), however each state has it's own departments that regulate the requirements. I would do an ADA search and look for phone numbers to call, I have 1-800-466-4232 down for technical assistance (not sure if this is the number you want but maybe they can direct you). The key is having your pet certified, once you have that the U.S. Department of Justice is behind you and they have been known to levy some big fines against people/companies that try to prevent your rights. Another resource is the ACLU (try the phonebook), or your local chapter of NAMI. Best of luck and let me know how things turn out. Take care, judy
