Holy cow - so YOU even have severe chronic insomnia. I think many folks with the conditions that those of us who post on PB about happen to have insomnia.
Anyway, what you described is just what I do - I lie there, hour after hour, with my eyes closed all night and not sleep a wink. Finally, something happens at some wee hour and I do fall asleep. It is TERRIBLE.
I may wind up on Serzone for this myself, as the next step in tweaking my cocktail might be to take me off Effexor as my AD and find a more sedating one.
You mentioned that you have kids, and mentioned "the little one," so the curious one here just wonders how many you have and what their ages are?
You made a reference to your "insomnia med" - I take it that this is Serzone?
Interesting theory that your pdoc has (it makes a lot of sense) about how we each have a sleep threshold--a window of time (usually an hour) when we fall asleep fastest. Mine is currently between 3 and 4 in the morning and this has GOTTA be changed!
