You didn't say in your post whether your lift from the sun coming out happened every time for you - you only mentioned the other day. I know for me, a sunny day is very welcome, but I don't feel a lift until 2 or 3 days of sun. Then the lift I get will last a day or so afterwards if it turns gloomy again.
I've tried a light box & find it doesn't give enough light to make a difference. The normal upper limits for light boxes are only 10,000 LUX, the amount of light on a cloudy mid-summer day. I need more than that, or at least longer than the recommended 1/2 hour under a light box. If I could, I'd have huge skylights throughout my place.
