...having seen a psychiatrist 2day I am faced with the prospect of being admitted to hosp for a 4 week alcohol rehabilitation programme. To say that I am slightly annoyed and concerned about this would be correct!
I suppose that I have a fairly stereotypical view of group therapy - standing up, announcing your name and then blurting out all your problems while everyone else sits and nods in agreement going yes, and it's so true etc etc. I'm not good at talking about my feelings and stuff. It comes back to the control issue - everyone comes to me to sort themselves out and I hate to be seen as needing that kind of "help".
Does anyone have any experience of this kind of programme/group therapy? I'd just like to know what kind of thing to expect and whether or not it will be helpful. Thanx in advance!
Emma.
