I'm a snob - I admit it. Somehow for me, the typical American humour does little to make me laugh. I don't know why because British humour can be just as crude, but somehow I think, the humourous references are more high brow perhaps.
That said, I'm a real sucker for British humour (except Mr. Bean), but then I'm Canadian. Rowan Atkinson is hilarious though in the Black Adder series, especially the last era during WW I.
Red Dwarf - British sci-fi humour at its best.
Fawlty Towers, of course.
All Monty Python, especially their skits, Search For The Holy Grail, & the Life of Brian.
Yes - Danny Kaye & Angela Landsbury in The Court Jester (the scene which includes the 'pellet with the poison is in the chalice from the palace'...)
And Johnny Stecchino (Italian for Toothpick) - oh YES, YES!! I think I'm in love with funny-looking Roberto Benigni.
