meeting new people

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone has any novel ideas of how to meet new people ? I know the whole join a club thing, but is there anything else I can do ?

I moved to a new city and I don't know anyone and that tipped me over the edge in terms of depression. I really want to meet some new people !! I'm a little shy at times so guess that doesn't really help too much.

Any ideas
