> Katey - I could use your advice. I have a 13 year old daughter who works very hard, but she seems to spend more time on homework than any kid I know. I think it's maybe a question of efficiency and organization. She constantly feels stressed and very frequently is up until midnight or later. Of course this means that she's dragging around during the day. This week has been particularly brutal with a couple a major projects due, a unit test in math, and 2 papers in other courses. I honestly can't figure out whether these teachers simply don't communicate with one another so things don't fall this way (they're supposed to do that) or whether it's just her feeling the pinch. From time to time (including 1 day this week) I let her skip school so she can get caught up. She's very conscientious on those days about working.
My view about this is that she's only in 8th grade and shouldn't be under the kind of pressure she feels and that I refuse to be complicit with anything that over stresses her academically. I know there are parents around here who would never do that and think I shouldn't either. Do you have an opinion about this.
I'd love to hear from other parents, students and teachers also.
