I'm pretty new here but my grown son & I have three cats - Mozza was rescued as a stray kitten at 5 weeks old (he's now 8 1/2 years & a medium-hair mostly white & some tabby pattern), Morgana was picked by my youngest son 7 1/2 years ago as a kitten (she's a flecked tortie, part Siamese), & Medusa adopted me 5 years ago when my marriage was breaking up & I developed pneumonia. My husband was so angry that I let her in, but she literally stayed by my side through all my ills - she was so loyal. We have no idea how old she is but she must be old. She's all black except for a few white hairs on her chest & now she's getting more & more white hairs throughout her coat, especially around her face. I read that will happen to cats when they're older than 10 years.

We treat our kitties so good as we want them to live as long as possible with us. They get their vitamin & mineral supplements & nutritional yeast sprinkled on their food every morning & night.

If pets are like us, it makes me think my son & I are very eccentric. Mozza & Morgana will do anything to get raw green beans including ripping through my groceries when I come home. I almost always keep a fresh supply in the fridge for them. Medusa sits up to beg & smack her 'lips' together for a dribble of canned milk whenever I make tea. AND these traits are just the tip of the ice-berg of idiosyncranies of theirs.

I don't know how people without pets maintain their mental stability, they're so necessary!
