I just wanted to ask, because it kind of rhymed (I know that's not spelled right...)
I forget which posts went to which thread, but I, too, am not your stereotypical Tex, as far as the big hair, long painted nails, large turquoise goes (from Dallas originally).
But, as I said in another thread, I couldn't believe how much folks looked like me when I got off a plane in Dallas a few years ago after being away for awhile. German/British/Irish descent, tall, long limbs, blue eyes, strawberry/blonde, clumsy as s**t. You get the picture.
I have happily taken on many qualities as the typical New Yorker, more the Manhattanite, though, which will probably get me in trouble with any other burroughs reading this.
True New Yorkers do not carry weapons, y'all. (Huff, huff. Nose up in the air.) That's something uncivilized Texans do. Nor do they wear high heels - they have to walk too much, at least during the day. I think it's New Yawk, if you're from Brooklyn, New Yahk if you're from Boston.
Re: Texans and their weapons: Part of my fambly still has a real fascination with guns...
My mother still has a distinct accent, after being gone from Dallas for almost 20 years. I do when I drink or get excited. I love the Texas accent. Hell, I love Texas. If I could combine Texas and NY, I'd have heaven on earth. But I think it takes a Texan to understand the true delicacy and subtleties of Texas...
