dealing with particular posters

I hope you don't intend to encourage personal criticism of particular posters by other participants. I think that is a bad idea on any board. While I didn't agree with your decision to ban one poster and not to ban the other (both of whom had recieved 2 cautions from you in recent memory), do you really think a particular discussion will benefit anyone? I don't see how that is fair to the person who is not able to participate because of being banned. Remember even people who do not meet your civility standards may indeed be having crises which will not be helped by continuing criticism. If you feel unable to let someone stay on the board and recieve support, please at least do no further harm by attacking someone who is down.
I also think it would be divisive to encourage complaints about particular posters. Maybe you could offer to recieve particular complaints by e-mail. A general discussion of the criteria you use to decide who goes and who stays might be of benefit to you if you are interested. But in the end it is your decision. I think it would be interesting to hear your ideas for dealing with suicidal posters.
