And we really talked.
He admitted that although he was doing CBT work with anxiety when I first saw him, that his specialty wasn't phobias. He doubts his ability to work effectively with me in this area, and thinks I'd do better to have an adjunct therapist.
So Tabitha, I think you were correct.
I agreed to try EMDR again, though he doesn't really want me to do it just for him, or if I don't think it will work. So I'm not sure where that leaves me.
He made sure to reassure me that he wasn't trying to get rid of me. He just wanted to help me as best he could, and in this case that might mean having someone else help me with this.
Me, I'm kind of tearful. But in a mostly good sort of way. I'm glad we spoke honestly about it, and I'm glad he was the therapist I know and love today.
